Do you believe in kitty karma? |
|
Doggie destiny? A strange twist of coincidences that just give you a chill?
I never did, but let me start at the beginning.
I lost both my cats within less than six months. The last one June 1, a Wednesday. On Saturday, I took all the unopened food and litter back the the pet store and decided to visit the rescue group's cat room as I always do. I went in an there was the most friendly cat who came right up to me and nuzzled my face. But...I was just not ready for another cat right then. I was still grieving, I had not even cleaned out the litter box or took up the food and water dishes yet. I couldn't do it because that made everything too final. But that cat was awesome, so Sunday I cleaned the whole house up. On Monday I went back because I could not put that cat out of my mind. I was devastated to find that he was already adopted already---but not surprised.
Well, I decided that it really was too soon anyways and that was for the best, to give myself more time to grieve. Well, I decided that as soon as my vacation next week is over, I want another cat, so I called that rescue group on Saturday to ask what I have to go through to adopt a cat. I told the lady that I would want a cat at the end of the month. I told her what I was hoping to find, and mentioned this particular cat as just the perfect personality and temperment. She said that we surely could find one that was right for me and we left it at that.
That was Saturday. Monday I get home from work and there is a message from this lady asking if I was the one asking about Sammy. I called her right away to find out what was up. It turned out that the family that adopted Sammy called her Monday to say they would have to return him because one of their kids had bad allergies and all the attempts to minimize them were not working. They were getting worse.
I do not believe in divine intervention or destiny, but this obviously is meant to be. They will hold him for me until I am back from vacation. How cool is this?
I was up all night last night because I am so excited! :loveya:

1. When we lost our little one, Tate, a few years ago, we went to the shelter to look at some cats. |
|
I wanted to avoid a cat who looked just like Tate, but a "Tate clone" in the kitten room ran right up to me and Mrs. Rat, and jumped up into my arms! I knew that Tate had guided us to this little guy who needed a forever home, and we took Weird Harold home that day (he's tearing through the house as I type this).
Best to you and your new friend!

3. I am glad you found happiness with your clone. |
|
But really, how can you fight that cat that just comes right up to you and decides you are the one!

4. I am helpless. The turn of events here amazes me. |
|
I hope that I am right that he did choose me. Or at least that he will be happy with me.

much. So, when I was ready for a new cat, I went looking for an adult. Who did I find but Monster. He was a truly great cat. Loved him for the 10 years I had him.

7. Loss is really hard to get past. |
|
But this old house is just too lonely. Sammy is an adult, 1-1/2 years old. I have always adopted adult cats since they are harder for rescue groups to place.

9. Good for you. I think I would adopt an adult cat again if the opportunity arises. But I can't now |
|
as I'm the mother of one cat at home, and one cat at my parents' place. One day I may have to have both of them at my house and I only have room for two. So for now it is just Twilight and me.

August 1998 - I had to have my 14 year old solid black cat L.B. put to sleep - a couple weeks later I stopped by the pound - I told myself, I'm just looking - I won't adopt a cat, and I certainly won't get a solid male black cat. There were a lot of cats there but this one kitten - er, solid black male - seemed very excited to see me - standing up on his back legs, clutching the cage bars, straining to see me - no matter where I went in the room I'd glance back and his eyes were locked on me - so, I got a pound worker to let me hold him and....Clancy is still with me and fixing to turn 14 :D

12. Oh what a sweet story! I understand. |

Just looking is pretty damned hard to do. And Clancy certainly did choose you. It was lucky for both of you! May Clancy have a long long life.

I sure do believe in kitty karma. They have so much going on we don't know about, like energy fields and things.

I lost my dear Max last August and was heartsick. I cried every day for weeks. But by October I was ready for a new feline roommate. I checked the website of rescue shelter from which I had adopted Max and found a couple of likely suspects. My first pick was on his way out the door when I arrived - he'd just been adopted. Second pick was a little skittish and squirrelly. A big ol' boy who looked like a Turkish Van came over and gave me a sniff and a "mrrrrrr." I was a little disappointed that the other cats hadn't worked out and decided to come back another time.
A couple of weeks later I went back and the Van came up and plunked himself down on the chair next to me in the waiting area. He followed me around the shelter as I looked at a couple of other cats and finally stopped in front of me and stared into my face. I sat down and started talking to him and he purred and rubbed against my arm.
It was clear that this cat had picked me, so I gave in to fate. After finding a carrier big enough to hold all 18# of him I brought him home and we've been best of buds ever since. The weird thing is that the markings on his face are almost identical to Max's. This cat and I were clearly meant to be together. :loveya:
