What's the technical term for the hatch that covers a car's gas cap?
Before I go shopping, I want something more official-sounding than "gas-door-thingie."

3. Nothing... Yet!
As a matter of fact, it's the only part on the car that shows any rust, and it shows a lot of rust.

I'd like to replace it before them little ol' rust germs leap onto the surrounding body panel.

4. ah, I see
well if you are handy you could probably take it off, clean and repaint yourself.

I was hoping for an amusing story but "rust germs" is kind of funny so you get a pass.

13. Yep, fuel door.
My car has it written on the speedo, right next to the handy little arrow to remind you which side of the car it's on, and the light to remind you when you leave it open.

5. It's referred to as the pre-fabulated, amulite fuel plate.
In most automotive assembly lines it is attached by a ambifasciant lunar wane shaft that is aligned to the panendermic semi-boloid slots.

20. I saw a big manly one at Auto Zne the other day
All chrome and stuff. Looks like it goes on either (1) a NASCAR special, or (2) a Hummer, or (3) a my-pecker-is-too-small monster pickup.

You should get one.

21. Hey, beats the jammed - up one after you get siphoned

The Nascar boys use this "dry-break" fill and vent system, the OP does NOT need one of these unless 5 MPG and 200 mph is in the plans...http://www.atlltd.com/082009.pdf

Not sure if I-79 is conducive to 200 mph travel, though. At least not southbound.
