Puppy update (Jama turns 5 months)
Jama is doing real well, growing like a weed. She is learning to sit, lay down, and stay (that last one's tricky). She has the stubborn lazy streak of a mastiff but the energy of a puppy so its a weird mix. Next up is walking on a leash.

She recently found the recycling bin and thinks its a delicious chew-toy buffet just for her.

Here she is with her grandma, Leah, and her Uncle Vito. FYI... Vito can pick up basketball with his jaws :scared:

she's huge AND lazy! :hi:

p.s. she's laying by my chair, snoring. She sounds like an old chainsaw with bad sparkplugs hehehe

8. Aww. We've adopted Great Pyrenees rescues several times.
I think both breeds have some common ancestry. Ruby and Wilbur are our current rug impersonators. Some day I'm going to learn how to take pictures with my cell phone on purpose...and then I'll learn how to download the pics (UPload?) and share them with you.
All the best with that lovely lovely lunk....

2. Aww, I can almost feel her big head
with its loose skin and soft fur.
My old friend since high school days had a Labrador-Newfoundland dog named Klaus who would accompany us on hikes in New Hampshire and Maine. He looked like a combo of Vito and Jama (at her present size).

5. sounds like a great dog!
cool name too. Did you ever see the movie "Juno" ? There is a lawyer named Gerta Raus. "Raaaaauuuss." That popped into my mind when I read about Klaus.

Jama, alas, will never hike. Im lucky to get her to go up the steps when I need her back inside lol. They say the rule for English mastiffs is never walk them further than you are willing to carry them back! My border collie OTOH will hike all day. In fact he goes twice as far. He'll run up the trail 1/4 mile, then come back and get us, then run down the hill, then come back, then run ahead... He's usually so tired and sore the next day he can barely walk.

7. I took myself to Juno, a chick flick date for me- haha. ;)
A neighbor a couple of yards behind ours was having their roof reshingled and our border collie-heeler was the roofers' cheerleader (or boss if you asked her)... "Roof! Roof! Roof!" she would call to them out the back door.

Klaus would hike at least twice as far as we did. One time we encountered no people for three days, then a man came down the trail toward us and said he hadn't seen a human for a few days so when he saw Klaus preceding us he thought it must be a bear!

How old is your border collie? Ours will be 11 at the end of the summer and she really needs her nap after any strenuous exercise. She is about 75 in human years, after all. ;)
