I can tell you this....That one of those friends is an ex (girlfriend, not files) who is one of the most sober, level headed people I've ever known. She told me once that virtually every "old-timer" in Roswell that she knew accepted as common knowledge, either from direct experience or knowing someone involved; funeral home workers for instance, that something very far out of the ordinary happened and that there was and continues to be a government coverup, including direct threats to people to keep their mouths shut. Among the people who've called for a full and open investigation is former Clinton Chief of Staff and Obama transition team chief John Podesta. I don't know what really happened and probably never will, but something beyond the official explanation is pretty much a given as far as I'm concerned.

9. a poll not needed, the gov't long ago acknowledged the cover-up

if you visit the national atomic museum in alb for example, they have an exhibit of the atomic era sampling balloon that crashed in roswell

it was covered up for reasons of nat'l security back in the day, the balloons were set off to study release of radiation from the upper atmosphere, as a result of the atomic and nuclear tests

the wacky UFO story was a fine coverup for the 40s, 50s, and 60s

for folks in the 90s and onward to still put forward the story, when the gov't has admitted to the sampling balloons being what crashed at roswell, is simply because roswell can make $$$ as a UFO hunter's site, it can't make money as a place where a weather balloon that sampled for atomic radiation crashed in 1947!!!!

many UFO stories are mysterious and compelling, this one is long ago "solved," there was no aliens, there was an atomic test in need of a cover-up and then, in later years, there was a small town in need of tourist dollars

no aliens nohow, if i ever decide to hunt aliens again, i won't be starting my trip in roswell

i'm prob. the only person who has commented so far who has ever been seriously involved in UFOs to begin with, so i should prob. know better than to offer anything other than bullshit and jokes...
