OK, I've noticed a significant craft beer contingent here. Here's our Beer List: |
|
New Restaurant, opening in 3 weeks, emphasis on Craft Beers and Barbecue. And coolness. Your opinions are welcome, bear in mind I can not get out of town beers unless they have a distributor. We are heavily into California Beers. There are so many wonderful brews these days!
These are on tap:
Allagash White (ME) Tangerine Wheatm Lost Coast Mission Bavarian Hefeweisen Scrimshaw Pilner, Lost Coast Boont Amber Anderson Valley Le Merle Saison, North Coast Doggie Style Pale Ale, Flying Dog
Bottle:
Imperial IPA, Anderson Valley Wheat Beer, Napa Smith Old Rasputin Imperial Stout, North Coast Oatmeal Stout, Anderson Valley Brother Theolonus Abbey Ale, North Coast In Heat Wheat, Flying Dog Downtown Brown, Lost Coast White Ale, Telegraph Arrogant Bastard, Stone.
Sound like fun? Drop by! When the constuction is done I'll post the address for and So Cal DUers. It's going to be in Oxnard, CA. :hi:

The In Heat Wheat sounds interesting. Plus looking local is always good. My own personal favourite brewery at the moment is Acorn brewery, who are local to where I am in the UK. This is where I find a lot of goodies near where I live http://www.sheffieldtap.com/

I actually have had Acorn. In the course of research. That's one very cool thing, my beer tab is a tax deduction! But it might not be *your* Acorn.

8. I'd be amazed if it was the Barnsley UK Acorn |
|
The thought of people in the states drinking Barnsley Bitter is a very wierd thought indeed.

How about some Russian River bottles or casks? Pliny the Elder is always a welcome sight.

5. Add Midas Touch, available in bottles, to your list. |
|
It's not only a craft beer, it is considered an 'ancient ale'. It is made using a recipe and ancient sporulated yeasts found in the tomb of the historical King Midas in Turkey. It's marketed as a brew that no one had drunk in 3000 years until now.
It's very good. Malty, fruity, smooth. Wonderful stuff.

7. Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA and Flying Dog Raging Bitch. |
|
Raging Bitch Belgian style IPA is the best beer I've had anywhere, and better than the rest of their line.
60 Minute IPA is a very good beer and the standard locally here in Maryland of a great beer.
Many of the beers you list I've never heard of; it is interesting how local much of the craft brewing industry is.

They lost the connection to the hops they use. However they are growing their own, but it wont be ready for two years. I agree with you if you're into the iPAs. That one was stellar.

Sadly, I don't see it all that much up here on the other end of the West Coast anymore :(
Is the Imperial IPA different from Hop Ottin, or did they change the name?
That one and the Oatmeal Stout were my favorites.
Can you get Humboldt Hemp Ale down there? That's some good stuff, even though it's not "that kind" of hemp that they use in the beer.

Different brewing style and different hops. Humboldt Hemp is available, but it didn't make our first cut, maybe we'll add it if something else doesn't sell.

18. There's a couple of local breweries where I live you should check out: |
|
The Bruery: http://www.thebruery.comI highly recommend their Trade Winds Tripel (Belgian style 10%), Humulus Lager (strong 7% lager), Cornballer (10% Belgian style malt liquor), and Loakal Red (red ale aged in oak barrels). Bootleggers': http://www.bootleggersbrewery.com/I highly recommend their Black Phoenix (strong spicy stout) and Golden Chaos (strong Belgian-style ale).
