Anyone else getting a headache from the high heat?
I wasn't even out for very long today but it seems to have really hit me.

1. Sounds like heat stroke to me. It didn't do that to me. Cold does when I'm sick.

Make sure everything else in your body is going okay and stay cool. Sorry you're having a tough time. The heat probably won't break until September, so take care.

4. I'm migraine prone anyway.
So I limit my time out in the sun. I just wondered if it had the same effect on non headachey people.

2. Fortunately, not right now, but the extreme heat
makes me short of breath when I have to walk too far.

3. You've got a few things going on, I know the feeling. Do what you have to do.

6. Played an outdoor gig yesterday.
Edited on Sun Jul-17-11 06:07 PM by MilesColtrane
Heat index was 103 when we started.

I had a headache when I got home that evening and still haven't completely recovered today.

I suppose I should have tried to acclimate myself by getting out in it for a few hours a day leading up to the gig.

7. I find that being out in the heat is exhausting.
The dog needs to get out. So yesterday I just took him to a wooded area where he can take a short walk and then go right in the water while I sit in the shade. Then some puppies jumped on me and got me soaking wet, which was fine. I don't think I could handle being out in direct sun for very long.

13. Getting accclimated wouldn't have helped in my opinion (and experience)
110 degree heat index over the course of a week or more just means I have a headache every day this week.

I hate the heat. Really hate it and I work outside all day and have done so for 20+ years. I'm exhausted and never feel as though I recover.

16. I know that feeling.
My temp job has me outside for a 10 hour shift. I don't get headaches, but if I don't stay sufficiently hydrated, I wind up with heat exhaustion. I get dizzy, weak, and nauseated. If it gets too far along, I throw up. I have tried to avoid reaching that point this summer. Lots of rest stops. When I get home, I'm useless. It takes a 3 day weekend to recover.

14. You are probably dehydrated.
Drink lots of water. If you've been sweating a lot, have an electrolyte drink like Gatorade or Powerade while you are at it.
