Sometimes, ignorance really is bliss. I remember when I was a kid |

we had heat waves in summer. It hit 100, maybe a little more (this was in the 1960's).
But 100 was all we knew. We didn't know the dreaded
(gasp)
(heat index).
One day last week, the temp was 95....and the heat index was 105.
Weren't we better off not knowing that?
