Thought Voldemort was average as a villain in final movie (maybe spoilers)

It seemed like Voldemort worked best as a distant yet menacing presence. Once he stood in front of everyone his character fell apart. He was not scary at all to me. Come to think of it, Ralph Fiennes playing pure evil? For one thing he was too small compared to everyone else. He should have towered over them and not been constantly fearful. Just didn't work well for me at all. Loved the first Harry Potter but was not blown away by the series. I am sure the books are much more interesting than the films though. Wish I had read them but I can't read something after I have seen the movie and know what is going to happen.

the movie made it seem like that each time a horcrux was destroyed, he was weakened. In the books, while it was a mental blow, I don't recall it actually weakening Voldemort. He didn't even know the horcruxes had been destroyed until he found out they took the Hufflepuff cup out of the LeStrange vault.
