Anybody have any idea how much it costs to replace the rear axle on a Subaru Forester? |
|
I've spent quite a bit of money getting my car back into shape...but as if I haven't had enough problems, today I find out that the rear axle needs to be replaced. The mechanic is going to call me tomorrow with an estimate and said it 'shouldn't be too bad.' However, I was curious if anybody has had that kind of work done on their car and how much it cost them...just so I know what kind of figures I'm going to be hearing tomorrow.

1. I have found that Suburu repairs are generally quite expensive. |

5. Replacing the two half-shafts, or the differential in the rear? |
|
Or... both?
Make sure you know what he plans to do.
Subaru has a pretty basic lineup and they're all based on a couple of platforms. The mechanicals underneath one don't look too cumbersome, either, so maybe the labor won't be too much.
My dad and I changed all the brake pads on my mom's Subie today... didn't take to long at all.
