Poll question: What's driving Furniture Fix?
Have you seen commercials for Furniture Fix?

I was wondering, what's the driving factor behind this product. Is it the growing obesity endemic or growing unemployment or equal parts of both? What do you think is the biggest factor in driving sales for this product?

Funny, I asked my husband, who is unemployed. He thought people were buying this product because it's cheaper than buying new furniture. I, who is 60 pounds overweight, tend to think people are buying this product because they're sinking into their loveseats.

1. Other.
You gotta remember, products like this are always marketed as a way of saving time and especially effort. The effort saved in this case would the the complete and utter hassle that is having furniture springs replaced. As far as I know, that usually means hauling it to an upholsterer, waiting while it's fixed (days or weeks, depending on their workload), hauling it back home and moving it back into place.

Sure, it hires people that might otherwise not have jobs, but you're still not thinking it through. It's simply not being marketed to you, or anyone else that thinks in terms other than "saving time, energy and effort." ;)
