Driving through Illinois
I just read a post by applegrove about smiling at people.
That brought something to mind.

Driving through Illinois I passed two gentlemen sitting by the roadside.
They would sit by the road everyday and wave at everyone that passed by.
I had read about them sometime before I ran across them. Stopped to talk
and look at their antiques.

Anyone else pass these gentlemen?? Had to have been in the 80's..........

2. It was a father and son duo that would sit on the side of the road
waving to passing cars. It was about 30 years ago.
Just on a back road or highway.
I believe it was on the western side.
I did a lot of antiquing back in the day
Best I can come up with at this time.....sorry

3. I don't know about them, but I do remember Berkeley's "Waving Man"
He waved to commuters every morning for years on end. Always a smile on his face. You simply couldn't drive by him without smiling back.

4. There is a guy on Main Street in Urbana, Illinois who sits under a tree and waves at the cars.
Every day that it is fit to be outside he sits in a chair under a tree and waves at the cars as they go by. Dunno his story but I wave at him every day when I drive by on my way to and from work. I am worried that one day he'll just not be there...
