How do you meditate? I just this week started meditating (again). |
|
As usual, it's hard to keep my mind on my breathing or my mantra.
What do you try to keep your mind on when you are meditating?

1. I start with the breathing, but then I just let my mind wander |
|
to wherever it wants to go. The key is to not get dragged into the thought and engage in it, but rather to notice it and simply release it. :)

2. Well, three decades ago it usually began with about six bong hits of Thunderfuck. |
|
Then it progressed to crashing on the sofa and staring at a spot on the wall for a REALLLLLYYY long time instead of doing shit I should have been doing. I quit that stuff over 2 decades ago and then had kids (well, technically my wife did), so there wasn't much time for meditating anymore. I never got back into meditating other than "on occasion", but I don't use a mantra. My key is to avoid thought, push anything out of my mind that sneaks in. If I catch an earworm like the theme from "Gilligan's Island", it is time to say "fuck it" because that session is going nowhere.

3. But if you "push a thought" |
|
it means you are engaging it and acting against it. The more you push against thoughts, the more they come in and bother you. If you just let them pass, then they don't bother you and you can keep 'going'.

4. Nothing but breathing, then let that go. With music. Tantric, trance, frequencies, stuff, etc. |
