7. Honorable mention for sure.
An eerily prophetic song in more ways than one, I'd say.

5. "Not For You"
In retrospect it almost seems like a "Hey, teacher! Leave them kids alone!" for the 90's...

"All that's sacred comes from youth.
Dedication, naive and true.
With no power, nothin' to do.
I still remember, why don't you...?"

6. Other... Soundgarden - "Rusty Cage"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBZs_Py-1_0

You wired me awake
And hit me with a hand of broken nails
You tied my lead and pulled my chain
To watch my blood begin to boil

But I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

Too cold to start a fire
I'm burning diesel burning dinosaur bones
I'll take the river down to still water
And ride a pack of dogs

I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

Hits like a Phillips head into my brain
It's gonna be too dark to sleep again
Cutting my teeth on bars and rusty chains
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

When the forest burns along the road
Like God's eyes in my headlights
When the dogs are looking for their bones
And it's raining icepicks on your steel shore

I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

23. They were so damned awesome.
Don't know if you're heard Hog Molly, but it's Tad Doyle. Didn't release much (I think this album was it), but it kicks ass. He was also in a band called Hoof for a brief time.

22. That's not what started it, just what brought it to the mainstream.
Lots of grunge was already out before that (including Nirvana's earlier material itself). Mark Arm from Mudhoney used the term way back in the mid 80's, and the Melvins had a bigger part in it's creation than Nirvana. Nirvana rode the wave, but they didn't create it (and that's not meant as a knock on Nirvana, because I loved their early stuff).
