How about this one, one he actually proposed.

In the late 1990s Al Gore proposed strengthening all cockpit doors on commercial airliners. They poo pooed the idea after like two days of discussion. I remember Limbaugh attacking the idea because it would add $300 to each airline.

If existing airlines would have been retrofitted it could have possibly foiled 9/11. Where would the GOP and neo-cons have been without 9/11?

not to be too heavy and serious but i have to admit it's amazing that i don't have to keep changing my light bulbs all time, and i realize al didn't really invent them, but i would say his movie did the most to publicize them (and the publicity or maybe the critical mass of buyers brought the price down to where i could afford them, so i was pretty delighted once i did)
