Nice dog and all. Couldn't be better. Love her to death. German Shepherd/Border Collie mix.

But when it comes time to snuggling its right to my wife Sue for her. I can beg her to come by me and no deal. Straight to mama every time.

Anyone else ever run across this phenomena?

Don

Here is a link to a thread about finding her back in 2008:

-----------------------------------------------------

Clarification concerning a PM I received about the actual breed(s) of this dog:

Question in PM:

Re: Is your dog a Labrador-Australian Shepherd mix, or a German Shepherd- Border Collie mix?

My answer:

A few months after I found her and after my first thread about finding her I had her DNA checked to find out for sure what breed she was.

The test came back as a German Shepherd- Border Collie mix. They couldn't rule out any other breeds that may have been present and undetected by the test though.

The only two breeds that they were able to confirm as present were German Shepherd and Border Collie.

When I first found her my vet suggested that she looked like a Labrador-Australian Shepherd mix to him so that is all I had to go by when I first posted.

I probably should have mentioned that in the thread I started today. Sorry about that.

Tale care and see you later.

Don

1. Border collies are creatures of habit - early behaviors are imprinted.
She probably had a female as her first "person" so that's all that will do forever more.

Face it, you're second fiddle.

2. She may have had some bad experiences with men
Before you found her. My sister had a dog like that: she would happily wag her tail and approach any woman, but cowered whenever a strange man was around (the dog, not my sister!).

Not your fault.

11. we had a dog who didn't like men.
But no man ever harmed her. My MIL gave the puppy to my husband when he was a senior in HS. Allie was from one of her Labrador litters. Raised in a good home. She just was not fond of men.

3. Many years ago I got Boo as a Valentine's Day present for Donna

There was no doubt that she was MY dog. We had her for 17 years.

4. When my husband and I got married, he had one cat, Tom, and
I had one cat, Clarisse.

Both were strays we rescued; Tom walked in my husband's house one day and stayed and I got Clarisse from a shelter.

Clarisse loved my husband best, and Tommy was my baby from day 1.

They're both gone now, sweet kitties.

So glad you rescued your girl doggie.

5. Some dogs fear the deep voices of men and others might fear men because they were treated
badly by a man.

6. One of my cats is a daddy's girl. She'll follow my sweatheart of a dad around the apartment. She
sleeps only on his bed.

7. I think HopeHoops has it right..
She probably imprinted on a female. Good on ya for saving her.

BTW: Nice to see you post (I haven't notice a post from you in a while).

8. Your wife probably puts out more body heat.
I know it's fun to anthropomorphize our beloved pets but in reality, when my kitty licks me, she isn't grooming me - she's after the salt.

Yeah, I know. I'm a meany.

9. My female greyhound likes my husband
but loves me. In the winter she will whine at him so that he gets out of bed and then she hops in to be next to me. The male whippet is pretty much an equal opportunity life-force drainer, but does have a preference for wrapping his body around the top of my head.

10. Our cat follows me all over and my best bud, but at night
sleeps on my fiance's feet/behind his knees.
I think I'm too tossy-turny for his hineynesse's liking.

12. Get a Tibbie female. She will protect your honor and show old two face what she's missing.
