3. Door County, WI.
Used to go there every summer to visit Grandma when I was a kid. It's become pretty touristificated lately, but it's still a beautiful area.

12. I've been to Door county
And to Michigan's upper peninsula, including the best part, the Keweenaw peninsula.

Unless you are very wealthy, the UP wins. It's just as pretty, if not prettier, and much less expensive.

5. I love Door County. We used to go there a lot when I was a kid.
They used to have the coolest haunted house there, but they tore it down a while back :-(

I haven't been up there in almost 10 years, but I've been trying to talk my husband into taking a trip up there with me. Maybe in the fall...

7. I spent Easter there
That was my one day off when I was working on the recall in Green Bay. It's beautiful there and that was my first time ever seeing a great lake.

8. Bodie Island, NC a/k/a the Northern Outer Banks
The inlets that made it an island have filled in so technically it's a peninsula.

Actually I only like about half of it. Nags Head is way too developed but the villages north of it are great, along with the extensive Currituck Wildlife Refuge.

25. I reccently learned an ancestor helped lay out the border for Delmarva!
He was one of the commissioners that was responsible for the Twelve Mile Circle. His father owned a chunk of land in a crook of the Brandywine Creek right on the border. On one old map I have, that crook was cut off from Pennsylvania by the Twelve Mile Circle. I just looked at Google Maps and according to them, that crook is now north of the border.

39°50'30.05"N 75°35'36.10"W

Apparently there was originally an Indian village there that had been abandoned - the grant was called "Indian Town."

Someday I should visit the area, but from the looks of the estate on that crook, I doubt I would be allowed to see the old family spread. Of course, my family has not owned it since 1753!

30. Delmarva has one of the neatest bridges...
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel

Even has a souvenir shop in the middle of it. Course since its like 20+ miles long, thats probably a good pit stop anyway.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chesapeake_Bay_Bridge-Tunnel
Only 8 bridges like this in the world, its really worth a drive, and a nice drive it is on a sunny day...
