Need help creating a password
So I'm trying to renew my green card online and I need to create an account.
fine.
I am at the website and have gotten everything done, but the damned site won't accept my hundreds of password attempts.

not giving anything away, it goes something like this Green*Card89

Per their description they ask that the password be done as follows:

An arbitrary string of characters chosen by a user or system administrator and used to authenticate the user when he/she attempts to log on in order to prevent unauthorized access to the E-Filing system.

Your Password must:
Contain from 8 to 16 characters
Contain at least 2 of the following 3 characters: uppercase alphabetic, lowercase alphabetic, numeric
Contain at least 1 special character (e.g., @, #, $, %, & *, +, =)
Begin and end with an alphabetic character
Not contain spaces
Not contain all or part of your UserID
Not use 2 identical characters consecutively
Not be a recently used password

Here's the part I keep hitting a wall on - ERROR: Your password must begin and end with an alphabetic character.

Isn't the first letter I have not an alphabetic character?? :wtf:

What am I missing?

2. I use this for most of my passwords
I got my first car in 1999 when I was 19. I use the license plate number of that car for my passwords. Yes it was only 6 characters but when I needed more, I would just add NY in front of it. Sometimes I will add a 1, 2, etc at the end when I have to change it consistently (ie work).

I no longer have that car so you can't look in my driveway for my password.

6. browser options
In order to electronically file your application in the quickest and most effective manner, please ensure you have the following available:

Netscape 4.7 or higher, or Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher

Does netscape even still exist?

8. I like it!
Trust me a few ideas crossed my mind, but I kind of need the thing, and I think my family wouldn't like a visit from immigration and them dragging my ass back to Canada.
I wouldn't mind, don't get me wrong, just not that way!

9. This will not help you at all
but there is a YouTube vid called "Sexy Screen Name" that brings up this kind of question. (I'd link to it but it is totally NSFW and I don't want to break any rules here. A friend in Germany recently brought it to my attention and it had me going :wow: ).

10. All of these sites with so many rules on passwords piss me off.
If I want to be stupid enough to use "password" as my password, that is my business and they should just let me do it. That was a shitload of rules in that one!

I just want to use one bizarre password for everything, and that is just not possible. Some places make me use characters, some places will not allow them. I have so many passwords that if this computer ever crashes, I will not be able to find my way into any places. Grrrr. :nuke:

Thanks for listening!

11. In addition to the ending character ...
... issue (as previously mentioned), the two "e"s in "Green" would be a problem: they are "2 identical characters consecutively".

12. Once worked in a place
That made us change our password every month. Since people kept forgetting what their new password was, they'd either write it on a post-it and stick it to their screens, or slip it under the mouse pad.

As you can imagine, that went well.

I just used one password, stuck a number in the middle and changed the number every month.

16. Send me a PM
I have RoboForm.

It generates alphanumeric passwords with random characters...including upper and lower case letters.

Tell me how many characters you need and I will PM you a password that NO ONE can crack.

You can even re-arrange the order if you want.
