Anyone a Death Cab for Cutie fan?

I've generally kind of ignored them as lightweight gloom-pop, but I've got to admit, the more I listen, their music is kind of growing on me:

..........

5 questions with Ben Gibbard singer, songwriter and guitarist, Death Cab for Cutie
1:31 AM, Jul. 28, 2011

Lighter in tone than much of Death Cab for Cutie's previous work, "Codes and Keys" reflects many positive changes in the life of Ben Gibbard. The sonically adventurous album was created after the indie-rock band leader got sober and got married to actress Zooey Deschanel. It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 album chart in June. Now the band, due tonight at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, is on the road to support it.

Though life has been quite good lately for Gibbard, a Seattle-area native, he received a scare recently at the Ottawa Bluesfest when the stage collapsed while fellow headliner Cheap Trick was performing just before Death Cab was due to close out the night. (The harrowing video of the collapse can be seen on YouTube.)

Death Cab for Cutie's guitarist, vocalist and chief songwriter spoke to the Free Press recently about surviving Ottawa and putting together the new album -- and why the band used eight recording studios to make it. ............(more)

1. Been a fan for a long time
I like their song "New Year". Sums up how I feel about the "holiday". They're making a stop here in Detroit. Maybe tonight? The opening act, Frightened Rabbit, is pretty good too.

2. Yes.
I don't find them gloomy as much as introspective. More twee than anything.

I'm listening to them right now. Soul Meets Body (now Death of an Interior Decorator)

If you like DCfC, also check out Ben Gibbard's solo work as well as his side project The Postal Service. (Yes, the female vocals are Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley.)

4. I've only heard their more popular stuff on the radio:
you are a tourist (which is getting a lot of airplay here in L.A.)

I will possess your heart

also the Postal Service - Great Heights

I haven't splurged for an entire cd though.

5. Never heard of them before.
Pulled them up on YouTube and the only song there is "I Will Follow You Into The Dark", which I did not care for.

7. Try these, they represent a wider reflection of the band
I chose these because they're one off each of 4 different album and they reflect different sides of the band. We Looked Like Giants is DCfC doing what they do best, telling a story through a series of word "images" to form a fractured narrative that is more about feeling than plot. The long version of I Will Possess Your Heart is long, but is a good example of their longer "composed" instrumental (or nearly-instrumental) pieces, the long intro feeds into the feeling of the song: a song about obsession and coveting and stalking. Soul Meets Body is their take on an uptempo lyrically-driven pop; it's the first song I ever fell in love to. You Are A Tourist is the first single off their new album...it's not my favorite album, too much artifice and not terribly lyric-driven like their earlier work.

http://youtu.be/YLRXX3HzkBc - I Will Possess Your Heart (Album version, not the radio cut)

(I couldn't decide on songs, I changed my four tracks about 15 times. I'm a fan and I want to portray the band at its' best.)

8. I got hooked initially because Gibbard's voice reminded me of Stan Ridgeway from Wall of Voodoo.
But it's gone far beyond that and I have three of their releases. Definitely a fan.
