Okay computer Nerds (Google Chrome and MS media content)
When I download from certain sites (megaupload, Fileserve, Mediafire) I got to play the file. It only comes up on Windows (Microsoft) media. I hate that. Wont let me rename it, extract or anything, it just goes to Windows media

When I try to find the file to upload to my MP3 player or play in another program) I cannot find it in any library........But if I go to media player I know that file is there...(Can't figure out how to make it play but I see it right there...

How do I get that file out of media center and put on my regular music file?

Thanks.

2. not sure i
exactly know what you're asking, but click on the wrench in the top right corner onf chrome,go to options, go to under the hood, then to downloads. that shoild tell you where your files are going, and you can change the location if you want. are you sure you are downloading them and not just opening them?

4. Go to wrench
click on the download and it goes straight to Windows media player and there is no way to see the file from that program...

3. Not sure I understand
but VLC media player plays just about anything and FFmpeg converts just about any media format into any other media format.

5. When I've downloaded from those sites, I am prompted where to save it ...

But I use FireFox.

Try this link ...

Prompt Where to Save Downloaded Files

at least if you control where they are being saved, you can do what you want with the file.

8. Here's a generic answer that may or may not help
If the general situation is trying to find a file that may have some random computer-generated name and is being held in some obscure temp folder somewhere, one thing to try is to stop all activity on your computer for a few minutes, then using whatever method you can, get the desired file to open/play.

Then, do a Search, with the criteria being Last Accessed and look at the list of files that were just accessed during the time frame that you had the file playing/whatever.

Then, go to the location/folder where that file is being held, and try to change the name to something you recognize, including changing the file extension to something generic like ".txt" and then copy it to where ever you want it to go. Then go to the new location and change the file extension back to whatever the original was (eg, ".wmv" or whatever).

This is one way around software that won't let you move certain files from certain folders.
