TV-
Dan Connor/Roseanne-To me, its a realistic couple with their own set of faults, and strengths, and they don't pretend to be something he isn't. For the show, I was dismayed when they had Dan cheat on Roseanne, didn't fit his character at all.
Al Bundy-A more simplistic, vulgar Dan Connor.
Lionel Luthor-In the first 4 seasons of Smallville a very sadistic sick villian who was so slick, he could probably convince anyone to do any evil deed.
Gil Grissom-A man trapped in a eternal struggle to solve the puzzle of his own heart, and nature.
Books-
Drizzt Dourden-Dark elf from the underdark, like his courage to fight the institutional bonds that were wrapped around his gender, and race.
Lestat De Lioncourt-Bad-ass most of the time, interesting, yet not afraid to "push the little red button"
Croaker/anyone from the Black Company series-just bad asses, all of them....
Roland Deschain-Gunslinger from S. Kings Dark Tower, strong, determined, and a tough old bastard.
Superman-cause he stands for the justice, and pursues honesty like a blood hound. Incredible strong, yet the humility, and self-sacrifice is unmeasurable.
Movies-
Superman for the reasons above
Marv from Sin City-reminds me of me, minus a majority of the violence
Jake the Muss-from Once Were Warriors, he is so wounded, and victimized yet he lets his rage consume everything that he loves/holds dear.
Conan the Barbarian-yeah, I know, just love the brutality of the character, and how centered he is on avenging the death of his loved one.
that's about all that come to mind at the moment...there are a lot more though.
