Embarrasingly dumb question, but .....Help ! I'm stuck in the "sent" file on my DU inbox

I have a couple of new messages and can't see a way (which I've done obviously many times before, but not today) to get out of "sent" to read the new incoming messages.
Thanks in advance for any help with what I'm sure is so obvious that you will all (and more or less correctly) think I must be an idiot.

It was apparently some problem on the other end, although that doesn't seem to make sense (or maybe it does). But anyway, I finally did receive a PM and they apologized and said apparently their messages had been sent as blank somehow. So although I got notifications of new messages, there was nothing to see .When I'd clicked inbox, viewing sent messages was the only option, probably because (until her message was sent successfully) the was no new message to view. Now that she has gotten them to work, the normal inbox function seems to be back. Thanks again though.
