3. Frozen Florentine quiche.
And now for dessert, I am going to have chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream with sugar-free fudge topping. I figure the sugar-free topping will help offset the sugar in the ice cream. I usually buy sugar-free ice cream, but there wasn't any in the flavor I liked.

7. cheese souffle with fresh basil butter sauce, chopped salad, blackberry pie
Edited on Fri Jul-29-11 05:33 PM by grasswire
I picked gallons of fresh blackberries this morning, and basil.

I'm not gonna like having the oven on for the souffle, tho, but I have a lot of cheese to use up.

9. Golf comes first on Fridays, so we'll be eventually grilling chicken
breasts that have been marinating in creamy balsamic since noon, green salad w/red onions/tomato/mushroom and garlic-cheese toast.

That penne in alfredo/pesto sounds darn good though too. :D

16. crab cakes in bar harbor
I was gonna skip dessert but I bumped into a childhood favorite I can't get back home ... so after dinner in the hotel I indulged in this:

with a dean's beans coffeehouse porter. "This rich, dark ale takes BBC’s popular Drayman’s Porter and adds Dean’s Beans organic coffee to the mix, creating an enticing blend of everyone’s favorite beginning and end of day beverages."

22. I have baked potatoes on the grill but Mrs. Lasher wanted to do them in the oven.
Next time I think I'll grill them.

I grilled some hot peppers too. Gives the bell peppers a little zing if you want it.

24. I give the peppers a coating of olive oil before I put them on.
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 05:28 PM by Lasher
You might like them better that way.

Last summer I could go to the garden for bell peppers, hot banana peppers, summer squash, and tomatoes to put on the grill along with my burgers or whatever. Boy was that good! But I hurt my foot in September and was not able to raise a garden this year. Maybe next summer.

I grew all of the stuff you mentioned...but it's hitting 105 here in AZ these days and most of my veggies are done. I still have the jalapenos and NM peppers. I got a few green/red bell peppers this year but am looking forward to Native American squash and corn - supposed to thrive during our monsoon season. Got the seeds down in Tucson from an Indian seed store....awesome.

Hopefully you can raise a garden next year! Wishing your foot heals quickly!
