Well, I got a cell phone. |
|
Through our local "Freecycle" I was given a Nokia cell phone, and I "charged" it with a $15 phone card.
So I have a cell phone that makes phone calls. That's all! :-)

I have it just for emergencies and if my landline is needed for something else, like if someone is calling me.

5. I now claim the title of cell free also |
|
I had one. My company paid for it, and I carried it. Not anymore. My wife has one I can borrow if need be. That is good enough for the time being.
I do miss having a smart phone though. I think I could do without the phone, and settle for the smart, truth be told. Checking email, addresses, websites, what have you, is handy. Plus it did backgammon. I was getting pretty good at backgammon.

7. Hmmm, not entirely, but I will give it to you. |

I have no spouse with a cell phone to use as a backup. I do worry a little about times when I would be in a situation where it would be necessary, but so far I have lived without one. And I think that I would be just like you, loving the smart part of the phone and not caring about the phone part of the phone. That would be fun. Do not tempt me!

10. No cell phone here either. I had a pay-as-you-go phone |
|
until I ran out of minutes. I never really used it that much. But I am now looking for one with real cheap monthly rates. I realize that I need one now. I have a Comcast bundle that includes my TV, Internet and phone service. A couple of times Comcast has gone down for a few hours and I had no Internet, phone or TV. That's when I realized I needed a backup phone.

11. People keep telling me to get a cheap phone like you had. So... |
|
why didn't you just recharge minutes on that one? I am lead to understand that these are cheap and can be used for only emergencies so that you don't have to pay a monthly rate. Obviously, there is something you don't like about this. Tell me.

which I buy a $19.95 card for every 3 months or so- and get double minutes because of a deal when we bought the phone. Now if I could just remember to charge it every night, it might actually work in the rare instance I try to use it! Our son bought himself an Ipod touch and uses it to text his friends, and he can use it to call from home, friend's houses or any or any wi-fi'ed place.
