Just had Jersey Mike's Subs for the first time
Oh my good god. That was something else. They put a lot of meat on their sammies (which is sliced right in front of you at the counter) and the bread is fantastic. They have quite the meat selection too. Anyone else ever been there before?

2. Yeah, definitely do that.
It's really good. Way better than Subway. Fair selection of sandwiches, and I like watching them cut the meat right there.

4. You should live in NJ, ALL of the deli's make sandwiches that way
and you can nudge them for more for usually a quarter....

10. Ooooh yeah I saw that one.
It looked really good. I might get that puppy next time. I almost went back again for dinner, but it was too late by the time I realized I wanted it.

12. If you ever get to Philadelphia or South Jersey, try a hoagie
Seriously, a real, live Philly cheesesteak or hoagie, made with South Philly-baked Italian rolls. The roll is what separates a real hoagie or cheesesteak from a "sub", even a really good sub. If you're really brave, try a Primo's Hoagie. Not cheap, and you need really good teeth because the bread is really crusty, but it's the meatiest, most delicious sandwich you will ever taste.

We were going into the ballpark in Philadelphia and the guard sees our hoagies (you're allowed to bring your own food into the stadium, thank God).

Guard: "Whaddaya got there?"
Us: "Primos"
Guard: "What kind?"
Us: "Italian"
He scowls.
"Okay, then. But if youda said 'tuna diablo', I wouldda hadda confiscate it."

Having said all that, you Californians know how to use avocado in a sandwich, and your tomatoes still taste like tomatoes. I love traveling out there and ordering In-and-Outs, offset by a healthy turkey + avocado wrap.

13. This philly transplant to California agrees
any 'sub' made out here has so little meat/filling it's ridiculous. And I disagree about tomatoes out here. They suck. There is nothing like a jersey beefsteak tomato anywhere.

14. Sadly, taste is being bred out of those Jersey tomatoes you remember
Unless they come from backyards.
