Wood Pellet Cat Litter?
I might have to try this out...

Use Wood Pellets for Inexpensive Biodegradable Cat LitterWood Pellets are a byproduct of the timber industry; you can get a 40lb sack of them for around $4-6 in the US. They are commonly used as fuel for stoves or as livestock bedding. Many people these days are using them as inexpensive environmentally-friendly cat litter.

Keep in mind that the wood pellets will expand as they absorb feline urine, so make sure you do not overfill the litter box. You can also sprinkle a little baking soda on the pellets to reduce odors. Many animal shelters are using wood pellets for cat litter; perhaps you should consider them as well. Photo by Alternative Heat Council.

1. I use pine
"Healthy Pet Cracked Pine" is the best litter I have ever found in 30 years of cat ownership.

Cheap, holds odor, easy to clean the box, cats luv it.

Amazing stuff. I'll never go back to clay.

3. I have never seen that one.
I'll have to keep an eye out for it. I lean toward the corn-based litters, like World's Best Cat Litter. But, they're so damned expensive. PetSmart's house brand is cheaper, but still more than I like paying. The one benefit of being down to one cat is that I don't go through litter as fast as I did when the old man was alive, especially when the renal failure kicked in. So, at the moment, it's not so bad.

10. I've use that when my cat was on medication
but he tends to track litter all over the place and that stuff was worse than clay, in that regards (I think it would get stuck in his claws.) I went back to clay. He seems to like it better anyway :)

2. If you want to do a test run, just buy a box of Feline Pine.
Looks like the same thing. That way, you can see whether or not your cat(s) like it, without having to get a 40 lb. bag. Most grocery and discount stores carry it. BTW, Feline Pine also has a scoopable litter. It's good stuff, although the clumps don't hold as well as the wheat and corn-based litters.

6. We tried the feline pine many years ago. Cats had a real problem
We got an unmistakable message from all three - don't screw with the litter.

9. Oh, I hear ya.
We screwed with the litter a couple of times, or rather my husband did.

Kitty peed on the floor next to the box. Never screw with the litter.
