RANT about Safeway
I just got home from what will probably be my last shopping trip to Safeway. I've been going to my neighborhood Safeway for at least six years now.

Anyway, the store is being remodeled. Last week and this week I've been receiving severe electric shocks whenever I touch anything metal in the store (like shelving). This week it was so bad that I was nearly in tears.

When I got to the cashier and she asked me how I was I said, "Terrible." and went on to explain the shocks. She said, "Oh, that's our new flooring. It should stop doing that in the next week or so."
I was very unsatisfied with that answer, as it didn't acknowledge my pain and discomfort I had shopping there the last two weeks.
I said, "Well, it was doing it last week also, and so I find it hard to believe it really is going to stop. I probably won't come back here again."
So the cashier called the manager over, related my complaint, and repeated my "threat" of not shopping there anymore. The manager shrugged and moved off.
So, I come home absolutely steaming. I spend probably $150 a week on average in that store, for the last 6 years! How many thousands of dollars is that?
Anyway, I call my sister who works for Trader Joe's and tell her the story. She confirmed that it was piss-poor customer service.
Then the SO calls me, just to check in and see what is going on with me (he's been working on a friend's car all day). He thinks I'm nuts and when I pointed out that my sister, a professional grocer herself, thought it was bad he says, "Well, of course she's going to bad-mouth the competition."
So I hung up on him.

So, in the time of one hour, I've lost my favorite grocery store, and acted like a bitch to my beloved SO.
Am I nuts?

2. which location is it?
I have some friends in Safeway corporate that love to get complaints and send them up the chain

PM me the info and I'll pass it on, along with your (anonymous) post. Might not change anything, but someone besides the store manager will learn about it, at least

3. I can tell you from experience
No one cares if you threaten to shop somewhere else. If it was a small mom-and-pop operation, then maybe, but not a big chain. At the store I worked for, when someone would make that threat, we'd say "OK" and walk away. I didn't think it was right then, and I don't think it's right now, but that's what they do.

I might let them get through their remodeling and see if they're able to redeem themselves. If not, then just go elsewhere.

4. Why do you think you acted like a bitch?
You expressed your anger and frustration to your beloved SO, he appears to have totally minimized your feelings, you responded by hanging up. Doesn't sound so bad to me. He could have maybe been a little more supportive???

7. He called back and apologized
He said he was just trying to joke about it, and said he didn't realize how upset I was until I hung up.

I forgave him instantly.
He's the best.

5. I wouldn't shop at a place where I get shocks
I am curious as to what causes this and how they propose to fix it,

8. That was part of my frustration
Their attitude seemed to be, "It'll quit doing it in a week or so, so just shut up and put up with it!"
I found that to be unacceptable.

9. Might be your shoes
I seem to recall in some dim part of my brain that this matters in conducting static electricity.

10. I was wearing rubber soled sandals.
Plus, after a few of the shocks, I was really careful about not dragging my feet.
