Who's the better Star Wars villain: Vader or Palpatine?
Vader was a complete bad-ass in the first two SW flicks, but in the Prequels, Palpatine managed to engineer a sham war, control both sides, and wipe all his enemies out in the process. That's just genius.

Help me decide.

5. On the whole, I agree.
Vader was the heavy in the first two movies. The other bad guys were not not scary at all.

In the last (and worst) of the three movies, Vader went all soft and mushy. Thus a new villain was needed. The emperor was memorably evil, but not exactly a heavy. He was a caricature, not a character.

The later movies aren't even worth talking about.

9. Jar Jar Binks
Probably responsible for more deaths in the series than any other character.

The whole damned thing (the Clone Wars, Imperialism, the Galactic Civil War) could have been avoided had someone simply lopped off his head with a light saber.

10. Vader in Episode IV was one of the all-time great movie villains
and, the end of Episode V was a classic with "I am your father"

The Emperor was more powerful, more evil and more villainous. However, the movies that featured him as the lead villain don't really hold a candle to those two. Well, Episode III had its moments...
