"Gothika" was predictable as hell. Robert Downey's character served no purpose, the soundtrack was edited over completely inappropriate scenes, there were plot holes and editing errors-o'plenty. The script was trite, Halle Berry overacted her scenes, and essentially, the movie was poorly done.
"TCM" remake was just bad, the same old "kill the young attractive adults" garbage a'la "Scream" and countless other formulaic pieces of junk that are based on either recycled or pastiche plots. I'm not a fan of the first movie and this one, though it does have better cinematography, is no better. I believe that it lost the shock value of the original because you KNEW what was going to happen. That's why remakes don't work. Hollywood is obviously desparate to remake bad movies and TV shows as much as they have for the past decade. Hell, why not remake "Cop Rock" since the entertainment industry is tapped out for original concepts.

I saw Gothika today...and it ROCKED!!! You really must be picky. I totally felt everything that Miranda felt in the movie, and I loved it. Duckie

I watched both of them last night. I enjoyed them, actually. But the remake of Dawn of the Dead rules over all!
