Does this sound right - animal rights people

I just heard on the police scanner there is a dog mauling a deer. The cop then asked the other if he had a 12-gauge with him. Then said "Cause you know what's gonna happen if I catch the dog."

Does that sound right, I don't think cops can just blow away a dog.

At least here in Oklahoma. If they deem a dog a threat, they can shoot it.

In Canada it is not easy to just pull a trigger if your a cop. I guess they can though if it's a threat.

I'm the furthest thing from an expert, but I'd think they'd at least shoot it in the legs or use tranquilizer darts or something... unless there's visible proof the thing is rabid, in which case I've no qualms about such force. Rabies is not fun...

6. In the US they can blow away anything, even you

if it's a threat. With people, they shoot to injure rather than kill. If a dog is going around attacking deer, then they have to do something before it attacks a human.
