Game of Thrones casting - Catelyn Stark
It is fascinating that in the tv series they picked someone else and had Lena Heady be Cersei. Lena Heady would have kicked as as Catelyn, but I guess they decided to mix it up by using someone else. I rather think that was a disastrous idea, because Heady has always done well as the Avatar of Vengeance.

Cersei Lannister is as evil as it gets, but I think Lena Headey would have been better served as Catelyn Stark. She is SO much better as the raw boned, determined, hell bent on revenge type.

1. She's not an even-mediocre physical match for the character of a Tully.

They're all reddish-blonde, full-faced, winsome and the such. Think corn-fed midwestern. Hearty-stock. Headey's an ectomorph...there is literally no way for her to physically fill that role. She's anything but hearty-stocked. No lie, she could gain 40 lbs. and still not fit the part well.

2. A Stark is a personality
not a body type, and Headey would have fit the role. Do you know what she becomes in the books?

5. Yes.
For lack of a better term, a wraith...an undead creature of vengeance.

It doesn't change the fact that Headey is too slight to play Cate. You may as well argue that Peter Dinklage would have made a great Gregor Clegane.

3. Haven't seen much of the show
but, I think they did a pretty good job casting overall. I think the woman they cast as Brienne is a bit too skinny, though she has the height.

though, would have been interesting if Tricia Helfer was Cersei - she was supposedly in the running.

4. But Lena Heady is great, great, GREAT as Cersei Lannister.
She's cool. She's calculating. And that look of comtempt on her face, like she's actually in pain interacting with these people who she feels are beneath her? Well that just sets my teeth on edge. I'm totally uncomfortable when she's on screen, and I think I'm supposed to be.
