I was on the 24-ft extension ladder painting and the dogs went crazy!
I had the door closed to the room I was painting, but they were wild in the main living area. I finished the area I was working on, and slowly made my way down the ladder. The dogs had calmed down.

I went into the living room, and while they were no longer "wild," they certainly wanted "out." I let them out and Nick-Nick bolted for the garden (100 yards from the house). Old Sirius was in hot pursuit. Then I saw them: four big deer, at my garden fence. They did not see the intruder until he was 50 yards out. They bounded and Nick-Nick chased, crashing through the woods for hundreds of yards. Sirius gave up early, old dog that he is.

Nick-Nick is quick, and slick. He was a great Bastille Day gift at the Dallas SPCA pound (7/14/2003).

1. Our Aussie chased off a coyote last summer
It was on the edge of our property and dared to growl when we all stepped outside for our evening break. Ol' Woodstock was off like a shot and little Monterey following as best she could with my wife and I hollering for them to stop. Montie did, Stockie didn't. He came back about five minutes later looking very satisfied and there's been mo further sign of the coyote.
