So what is everyone driving?
Me --- well I don't have a car right now. And I probably won't at least until college, but I just got my license and am in a car mood as I just cruised around tonight in my dad's car. Sorry if this is a repost.

It's a great car. I've been wanting one for a long time. She has an excellent stereo system too. Great for road trips!
Before that I drove a Geo Metro. Almost 100,000 miles on it and never a problem. I never even had to get the brake pads replaced. Of course I took care of it.

6. 1990 Mazda Protege'
Only 71,000 miles on it and I still get 40-42MPG on the highway....'bout 32 in City.

BUT you've got to know how to control your driving for best fuel economy. It's an acquired skill.

Wife drives a 2001 Ford Explorer...on the highways in Wisconsin in the Winter, you need 4-wheel drive......gonna trade it for a Subauru "Outback" or similar later.

18. The car I drove around in tonight was a 1992 BMW 750IL
which is about the most fuel inefficient car on the planet. It's my dads, he's only had it for about 8 months and is going to sell it soon, primarily because if something goes wrong with it it's too expensive to fix, and because of the money he has to spend on gas.

He might get a Mini after he sells the BMW, which would be a huge jump in fuel efficiency, but he's dragging his feet.

That BMW sure is a fun car to drive though! 12 cylinder engine baby woohoooo!!!

I know I'm a bad bad liberal:( :D

23. 1997 Honda CRV
I wanted an Insight but the payments were too high for my budget, so I wound up getting basically the diametrically opposite vehicle since it was only $8,000. Funny thing is it gets better mileage than the Accord I traded in on it. Still, I wish I could have afforded the Insight - 70 mpg as opposed to 26? No contest.

same as you I really wanted a hybrid car...but the spouse can't fit into one, and I couldn't wait for Ford to come out with its hybrid Escape...CRV has the same gas mileage as the Legacy I had, and it met the spouse's leg room requirements...tight but driveable.
