on exactly my 18th bday (yesterday, was searchin through the mail piles and found it.) this automated mail shows up... telling me to 'register today! its quick, its easy, and ITS THE LAW in about that exact same print. it has a picture of an eagle that looks like its on steriods. i open it up and inside its got a little section on the redundant, unnecessary instructions, and it has a nice sized section for why i should comply, and tells me the conciquences if i dont. my god thier trying too hard. i mean, they already know all/most my information apparently, why dont they just sign me up on thier own? lol

Edited on Sun Apr-04-04 11:58 PM by LastKnight
they way i see it is... IF i didnt sign up, id get my student loans turned down, fined, and prison or any combination of them all. and if i do sign up, and IF i did get drafted and IF i did refuse to participate, i could get fines and prison time? what a crock o shit. how is that any different than signing me up automatically, cause hell its like putting a gun to somones head and telling them to do something.

to arrest you for unpatriotic noncompliance. This is why the SS makes you go through the ritual.

and I'll personally take you to the pub and get you totally maggoted, hows that for a deal?
Sorry I can't offer a solution to anything but the alcohol problem though, seriously.
The best I could do is suggest that when you come for a beer you could just 'disappear', after all Australia is about the same size as mainland US but only 20 million people live here, not hard to go unnoticed.

More than three quarters of the Nation’s 21,500 public, private, and vocational high schools have Selective Service Registrars appointed at their school. Participation is easy and requires little time and effort. Schools simply nominate a counselor, teacher or other staff member to be appointed as an “Uncompensated Selective Service Registrar.” Registrars are then given registration forms, display posters and other informative literature. They may also incorporate Selective Service education into the school’s curriculum or make registration “reminder” announcements on the public address system.http://www.sss.gov/reg5.htm
