Adult Swim Action Saturday Nights Are BACK!!! (with the Animatrix) |
|
Saturday night’s all right for fighting – as well as shooting, stealing, investigating, discovering and escaping. As Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim launches on Saturday (11 p.m.-2 a.m., ET/PT) with a line-up dedicated exclusively to top action-adventure and animé series. Beginning Saturday, April 17, Adult Swim will air six nights per week. As part of the new programming strategy, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network’s popular late-night block of animated programming aimed at adults 18-34, will add four new action/animé series to its line-up this year.
“Action programming has been part of Adult Swim since we launched in September 2001,” said Mike Lazzo, Cartoon Network’s senior vice president responsible for Adult Swim. “With the popularity of series like InuYasha and Cowboy Bebop and the great new shows we’ve acquired, we decided to create an exclusive destination on Saturdays where fans can turn for the best animé.”
To kick off the new action block, Adult Swim presents The Animatrix on Saturday, April 17, at 11 p.m. (ET, PT). Springing forth from the world of the successful film trilogy The Matrix, The Animatrix presents nine original short animated stories directed by pre-eminent animé directors, including Andy Jones (Final Flight of The Osiris), Mahiro Maeda (The Second Renaissance: Parts 1 and 2), Shinichiro Watanabe (Kid's Story, Detective Story), Yoshiaki Kawajiri (Program), Takeshi Koike (World Record), Koji Morimoto (Beyond) and Peter Chung (Matriculated). Four of the nine episodes were written by Larry and Andy Wachowski, and all of the episodes are grounded in the world of the The Matrix. http://www.animatedbliss.com/news.asp?TID=709

Just caught Wolf's Rain recently. Interesting premise on that one. Won't spoil it for anyone. But worth checking out.
FLCL = Insane. Good insane. But insane none the less.
Heard rumors running around that they were supposed to be picking up One Piece(my avatar is from this series). Thats a very fun series. Hope it shows up soon.
On Edit: hehe, Doggy Poo ad on that link. We have been reading about that story and it actually sounds interesting. hehe Doggy Poo.

4. One Piece hasn't been licensed by a anime company yet |
|
Viz may pick it up, since it owns the One Piece manga as part of Shonen Jump USA.

3. "Animatrix" was great! |
|
And I'm not even a fan of anime.
It was certainly better than Matrix Revolutions.
