Scariest movie scene?
1) The crawling girl in "The Ring"
2) The bloody hand in the original "Carrie"

1. Still say The Exorcist has some very disturbing scenes :)
Edited on Thu Sep-01-11 05:17 PM by Ahpook
One in particular is during the exorcism. Regan is laying on her back and head turned towards the camera. She has a bit of the famous pea soup rolling out of her mouth. The creepiest thing is her eyes. Completely rolled back in her head.

That small few seconds of the film makes my knees weak :)

On edit: The demon face that briefly pops up from time to time is terrifying as well.

4. Two "wet-your-pants" moments
I agree with the crawling girl in "The Ring." Well set up, and when I saw it in the theater, absolutely petrifying.

Two moments that never fail to "get" me are from "Psycho" and "Halloween." The Martin Balsam character is going up the stairs of the Bates house looking for Mrs. Bates, and the camera angle suddenly shifts from the top of the stairs to an overhead shot, as "Mrs. Bates" bursts out of the bedroom to stab Mr. Arbogast. Yikes! Arbogast totters on the edge of the stairs before tumbling down, with Mrs. Bates flying down after him like the Angel of Death to finish him off at the bottom of the staircase.

In "Halloween," there's the scene where Jamie Lee Curtis goes up the front walk of the Myers House to slip the key under the front mat. The camera shifts to inside the house looking out the front door window. Just as Curtis straightens up and turns around to walk away, Mike Myers suddenly moves into the frame to look at her through the window. Yeeks!

5. The first one that came to mind...
The ending of "Don't Look Now", when Donald Sutherland finally catches up to the little figure in the red raincoat.

If I keep thinking about I'm sure I'll come up with a different answer. So many good ones!
