ODE TO CALIFORNIA PEGGY

I had visited various left-leaning sites before coming to DU but they just didn't seem a fit for me. I came onto DU and firstly, loved the format. I then ventured to GD, GD-P and of course The Lounge. I think it was GD where I made my first post and the first response was from Peggy. It was welcoming, a fun read, complimentary of my OP, etc. It was her post that made my decision to stay here. Although I AM MUCH OLDER THAN CALIFORNIA PEGGY, and just about everyone else on here, I have always felt comfortable. Thanks CP, being welcomed by you is like being invited to sit at the "Cool Kids" table...Bwahaha. May you post another 90K in the future.

6. A different post than I thought it would be

It was the third of June, another sleepy dusty Delta day
I was out choppin' cotton and my brother was baling hay
And at dinner time we stopped and walked back to the house to eat
And Mama hollered out the back door "y'all remember to wipe your feet
And then she said "I got some news this mornin' from Choctaw Ridge"
"Today California Peggy jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge"

And so on and so forth. But the question remains: What was she throwing off the Tallahatchie Bridge?
