Who's lived through a Mid-Life Crisis? |
|
...either yours or someone else's. :)
How did it manifest itself? What were the feelings?

Hey, life begins at forty. Best thing that ever happened to me. Let's just say, I'm a late bloomer.

3. Maybe I'm going through one now? |
|
I'm turning 39 this month and I'm so anxious and antsy about my life. Right now, work has dissolved my department, so I have two choices, keep my current salary and move to a help desk type environment of answering phones all day, but getting damn good pay to do nothing, OR, take the severance and go back to school full time with financial aid? I'm totally in a quandary on what path to take? Should I stay and just pack as much money away as I can and wait till they lay off another time because I doubt they'll be able to keep me for too long considering they could pay someone half as much to do the work I'm about to do if I stay. Or do I get a jump start on a whole new path/career by getting an undergrad? So I stand at this crossroad unable to feel confident in either decision, limbo again. I totally could restructure my life to accommodate being a student for two years, and I wonder, is this just the last part of being idealistic? My last chance to do what makes me happy, or do what keeps money in the bank? I'm not sure if it's a mid-life crisis? More like mid-life decision. I have adult acne from all this stress!!!LOL At least I look 5 years younger and I haven't taken smoking back up..although I'm contemplating becoming an alcoholic but I can't afford that either!
Anyone have any suggestions?

10. I used to have a job doing NOTHING that paid wonderfully. I used the time |
|
to learn how to play the stock market and real estate game.
Then I made a killing off it and retired at age 40.
The point is to wisely use every available resource, and be grateful for what you have.
Working HARD is a waste of time if you don't get ahead.
Working easy and working smart is the only way to go. Can't take it too seriously.

I'm finding it a tough time. I've always had an intuitive feel for what's next in my life. Now that my kids are older and don't have much need for me, except for the $; the job sucks, I'm more than ready for change but haven't summoned up the courage to do something.

I've had a crisis in every decade of my life:
First Decade: Being born; wet diapers; skinned knees; bullies beating me up; etc.
Second Decade: Acne; depression; couldn't get a date; broke; etc.
Third Decade: Acne; depression; broke; etc.
Fourth Decade: Acne; depression; hair loss; broke; etc.
Fifth Decade: Acne; depression; bald; broke; etc.
Life is grand!!

9. I'm 43. I started on botox 18 months ago, and bought a sports car.. |
|
and I'm a CHICK. I WILL NOT wear elastic-waist trousers -- EVER (unless they're yoga work out pants) and I WILL wear clothes that show off the figure I'm working HARD at, at the gym I just joined.
:)
I will NOT grow old gracefully. I will deny it and defy every step of the way.
I will remain young and gorgeous forever.
Thank goodness my frenchman is a fantastic and ardent lover... That helps a LOT.
