Had a strange encounter with a woman today & don't know what to think |
|
My friend and I were standing by his Jeep drinking the beverages we just got from Dunkin' Donuts. A woman, probably in her twenties, is walking down the street and carrying an artificial long-stemmed rose. She says to my friend (about me), "Is she your wife or girlfriend?" He says no. She hands me the rose, pats me on the upper arm/shoulder, smiles and says, "you're beautiful" and then continues walking down the street. HUH?
What was that?

1- she's joking or 2- she was being sincere..... I have no idea beyond that.

3. Yeah, I have no idea either. |
|
It was so odd. She didn't look like a wacko, but then again you can't always tell by appearance. My friend joked, "maybe she was hitting on you," but I kind of doubt it because she just kept going.

5. Random act of kindness |
|
We are so unused to it, we don't know what to make of it.

9. You're right about that. |
|
We don't know what to make of it. We tend to be automatically suspicious of everything and anything.

4. My friend said that to me jokingly. |
|
But like you said, no information given out. She just kept going. And why the heck was she carrying a rose with her (unless she bought it for someone who stood her up and then just gave it to a random person she saw)?

She wasn't his wife or girlfriend either.

Hm. Maybe she was high?
But you are good-looking...
So, there's that!
I guess I wouldn't read too much into it...she just wanted to give the rose to you...
Enjoy! I hope it's a pretty one.

Though I didn't look so good today: didn't even have any makeup on. LOL
Her being high is a possibility.

11. I think Xipe Totec is right: a random act of kindness. |
|
A number of years ago, my wife and I were out for a nice dinner. She was wearing a very classy purple pantsuit. For a while, she had begun to feel unattractive as she aged and put on a little weight. My wife is a former dancer and runway model, and aging and gaining weight, even if "only a little", was very depressing for her.
As we walked along the sidewalk toward the restaurant door, some young lady shouted out her car window: "YOU! You in the purple! You look BEAUTIFUL!"
It lifted my wife's spirits as you can't imagine. Or maybe you can, now.
I still say a silent prayer of thanks for that kind stranger with her well-timed kind word...
