So, this morning I find a sign in my yard saying that my house is for sale, it isn't.
I call the number on the sign and the woman on the phone tells me I must be mistaken.

I say no, my house is not for sale.

I find out according to this woman that the sign was put on the wrong block.

She is coming out tomorrow to get the sign.

I want to talk to her.

I was a little pissed off.

1. Fortunately this will be funny some day
I might understand mixing up the address number, but getting the wrong street? That's odd.

4. It was the wrong street and wrong house number.
I am surprised it was the right city.

I am checking this woman out to make sure there isn't something funny going on.

5. Yes.
I have the sign in my house.

There are lot of old people who live out here yet.

This would have scared them.

9. Give her heck.
It would have scared the elders...they don't like change usually, plus they'd miss you and fret about who would move in by them. :(

3. My dear texanwitch!
Yikes!

At least nobody was out there, demolishing your house!

But that sign was certainly bad enough.

I'd be pissed off too.

Our taxes are paid.

6. When I was a young 'un,
kids used to uproot "For Sale" signs and put them in front of other homes. That was before the signs were cemented in to the ground.

I don't blame you for being upset; someone really effed that one up.

15. Hehehehe...
We put a "For Sale" sign in front of out neighbor's house a few years back while they were on vacation.

The reaction to that was nothing compared to when we put Crime Scene Tape around another neighbor's yard, along with a couple Toxic Waste Hazard signs.

The local news actually showed up.

16. I put an overtime parking ticket I got on vacation on my neighbor's car
The place we vacationed in was about 200 miles away.
My neighbor freaked out - went so far as to call the town and read them the riot act.
They, of course, had never been anywhere near there. Had they read the ticket it had my license on it.

17. When our dad's house was up for sale we had repeated incidents
where people who had paid a rental deposit showed up to meet the "owner and get the keys". Our agent told us it was becoming a common internet scam; find a house for sale and place a rental ad with the info. This was in CA.

Make sure that local agent hasn't listed your house on any of of the local sites by mistake too. You know because obviously she's not too good on details.

You have every reason to be very angry but let your lawyer friend do what lawyers like to do.
