1. You mean those guys parked on the side of the road with the superglue? |
|
Never tried them but Ive seen the do it yourselfkits around. I usually spend the 200 and get a new one, as tne damage is usually pretty bad.

2. There are a couple of local companies that do the vacuum injection thing. Their reviews are mixed. |
|
The windshield was just replaced last year. I hate to send another one to the landfill if I can avoid it. :hi:

3. We've had Safelite come to the house several times |
|
in the four years we've been living back in PA. They do a great job, never had the chips turn into a crack. Our insurance covers the cost.

6. The receipt from the repair in April 2011 was $60.00 plus tax |
|
They gave us a receipt, but the bill went to our insurance (GEICO) and is covered - not a deductible charge :hi:.

some insurance companies, Am Fam for example, will usually pay in full for a windshield repair rather than wait for it to get big enough to require replacing the whole windshield. Ask your agent.

10. I have seen Safelite advertised in TV quite often. |
|
They seem pretty reputable. That is who I would go with.

5. Had safelite do one for my car a few years back. Insurance company waved deductible if I |
|
agreed to let them fix it. I did, first one didn't take, second one did. They re-did it for free.

7. I had a big chip,a little bigger than a quarter repaired. |
|
Speedy Glass was the name of the place. The guy felt the inside of my windshield,he said if there was any unevenness the windshield was kaput. There wasn't. It cost around $130 to fix. They injected some kind of glue or something. The chip became almost invisible. That was 2 years ago and no problems. Check your BBB for a reliable business.

9. Had two chips over the 11 years I've had my truck |
|
The first time, insurance covered the entire cost of having it repaired. The guy came to my work and fixed it in the parking lot in less than an hour.
The second time I had the defrost on and didn't see the chip until the temperature differences in and out caused it to crack several inches. Insurance covered the entire repair again (no deductible), but the entire windshield had to be replaced. The repair guy cut through the headliner, and I ended up having to pay to have that replaced, too.
My advice, get it patched asap, before it starts to crack. Should be free to you, so why not?
