Kurt Cobain, 10 years later |
|
Kurt Cobain and Nirvana changed my young life. They were the first band i truly loved. I cried when Kurt died and he has continued to touch everyone with his music. Bless you Kurt! Memorial Thread, Please don't flame http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Music/04/05/music.cobain.10years.ap/index.html

I recall Rush Limpballs said some really nice things about the fellow even before his body reached ambient temperature... won't reprint them here out of respect for KC. :puke:

3. yeah, I'm quite aware of OxyRush's contempt for Kurt. |
|
The funny thing is, shortly after Rush was exposed as a hillbilly heroin junkie, it struck me that there are actually a couple of parallels between Rush and Kurt.
Both of them are hugely popular, even iconic, among certain very large portions of the American population. Both of them are seen as visionaries and deliverers of the truth to their respective fan bases.
And both of them are sad, lonely men trapped in their own respective private hells who numbed the pain through drug abuse and became junkies.

4. I can't believe it's already been 10 years |

That sure went by fast. I was listening to the radio when Marty Reimer at the old KXRX announced that a body had been found at his house, and all morning my friends and I were on the phone, I remember. Still my favorite Nirvana show was Four Bands for Four Bucks at the HUB Ballroom where they destroyed the PA and were "banned for life" from ever playing at the UW again. RIP, Kurt!

I'm much older than Nirvana's target demographic :eyes:, but I really enjoyed their music.
I only wish we could have been able to see how Kurt and his music would have continued on into the new millennium.
RIP, Kurt, and Courtney, Frances needs you.

7. hard to believe it's been a decade |

they were never my favorite band (that would be u2) but I was a pretty big fan. the music scene that nirvana ushered in was something truly special to have as the soundtrack to your adolescence
nirvana, pearl jam, mudhoney, alice in chains, soundagrden, the breeders, sonic youth, r.e.m. , 10,000 maniacs, juliana hatfield, belly, - i wish the early 90s could have been frozen in place forever
i trully feel for the generation that has to grow up on drivel like kid rock and britney
