Maybe this scam is old news, but just in case..... |
|
I received an e-mail confirming a purchase I didn't make. This has happened before - someone using random credit card numbers to order stuff until they get a positive hit. I've had to call the credit card company or bank (debit card) before to get the charges canceled. Usually the purchase if for time on an on-line game.
This time, the credit card number wasn't listed in the e-mail, so I foolishly clicked to download and open the invoice attachment - only to realize the extension was .exe
I think I got clear of this with the support of the security company, but I wanted to pass on the warning. A major scam masquerading as a minor scam!

1. Thanks for tip. Keep browser settings to show URLs of linked sites with mouse over... |
|
Specific ways to set this in preferences varies with each browser, but is the default setting for Firefox, I think.
PC users can "right click -> properties" with their mouse, I think.
thanks.
