Does anyone else find it harder and harder to copy pictures from the internet |
|
to move them somewhere else (like email or the lounge). Used to be they would all allow a simply copy and past. Now the "paste" most often does not work. How do you get your pics?

1. I've noticed more difficulty, tho I can't think of anything specific offhand... |
|
. . . ... and I don't know whether I'm being objective or subjective (there are a number of things that are more difficult for me, both mentally AND physically, since my post-surgical complications started over three months ago). . . I run almost everything thru MS Paint (mostly for reducing file sizes and adding/subtracting the occasional caption) and then I file them in my Photobucket acct and use the "posting" or (though very rarely) the "emailing" codes I get from there -- I virtually NEVER try to post directly anymore. . . But, I think you're right -- every once in a while I run into a picture that I have to jump through confusing hoops to capture. . . Maybe it's updated changes on our browsers. . . .

2. The only place I have any trouble is Facebook. |
|
Used to be, you could right-click and download any pic posted on Facebook and add it to your photo library. At least you could with an Apple product. Then they (Facebook presumably) changed it so that in order to add a posted pic to your photo library, you had to go through five or six complicated steps, rather than the old two-step process.
Makes it difficult to save pics of my nieces that my sister posts. :grr:

all I have to do to save them is click to refresh the page that the photo is on. This gets rid of the black border and also makes it possible to save the photo. For me it does, anyway.

3. I right-click on the image, ... |
|
... copy the image address, and then paste that address wherever I want the image to show up.
It seems to work as often now as et ever did.
My wife does something more elaborate with Photobucket, but I have resisted the idea of learning how to use Photobucket.

13. I also do that, but it doesn't work here unless it's .jpg or .bmp |
|
Someone here suggested that I use Photobucket, so I did, and if I can figure it out, anybody can, LOL. All you do is save the image to your computer, upload it to Photobucket and copy and paste the appropriate link that's created for that pic. :hi:

10. I don't know whether my problem is Windows 7, but the hyperlinks now don't copy & paste |
|
for the most part. I used to be able to do that unfailingly, but now I have to select "Insert" and "Hyperlink" and usually a drop-down list appears of scads of recently visited hyperlinks, including the one I want, buried in the list. Then I select the one I want and Insert it. Sometimes THIS doesn't even work, no drop-down appearing and I have to type the danged link character by character.
As for pics, it used to be that Google Images had a block on copying them, but seems like they have done away with that.

12. Some sites seem to use weird filenames |
|
which seem to make direct linking problematic. There's a bunch of stuff after the file extension, for example. Or there are DU-incompatable characters in the address, like question marks.
Sometimes you can copy-and-paste the image link, then erase everything after the ".jpg" (or whatever the extension is) and it works.
But sometimes, I have to save the pic to my computer, then reload it up to Photobucket.
One of the reasons I have Photobucket is so I can get them for myself so I know the link to the pic will always work and always be good. Also, so I can use it in the future!
I just recently found out how to capture images from a computer movie file... that was a nice revelation!
