1. Just so cute!
The one on your shoulder, along with the story, is so sweet. Thank you for the pics.

2. They are cute as the dickens, but I don't think I would be comfy letting a wild animal crawl on me.
:)

3. 'Grunty' is pretty tame now.
I call him Grunty because he makes little grunting sounds.
When I hold him or put him on my shoulder he purrs.
He's the only one that's really 'bonded' with me.
When the others started to show up, I figured they'd be better off if we left them alone.
I did put some crushed pecans out for them.

I was just now sitting on the patio and Grunty crawled up on my foot and went to sleep.
I hated to wake him when I got up to come in.

I've only see 4 today.
Maybe they'll all eventually take to the wild.
That would be best, I guess.

19. We once raised a flying squirrel.
It was similar to the relationship you have with Grunty. When he was young he wanted to stay perched on my shoulder all the time. Then as he got older he started getting more independent.

We always put him in his cage before we went to bed but he was hard to find when he got more adventurous. One time we finally found him in a stack of towels. Another night we gave up and went to bed. When we pulled the covers back, there he was. Finally we decided he was ready to be free. We took him far away from the house so that he would not be endangered by domestic animals - particularly our cat, of which he had no fear.

I think your squirrels will go their way when they are ready. Since you don't keep them in a cage, they can make that decision themselves.

5. Squeeeeeee!!!!
Trof, you are in so much trouble. I made the mistake of picking up a baby squirrel a couple years ago. Hard drive kinda filled up with cute squirrel pix and videos.

The like dog food, all kinds of bird seed, peanuts, fruit, and ours liked enchiladas. She would run up your leg and torso to get on your plate. They will bite and get aggressive when mature, so encourage outdoor independance.

You can use cat flea powder, if I recall.

20. enchiladas?
lol that's funny
They will eat just about anything, or the ones around here do. Just be careful not to give them nuts with salt.

7. Thanks for posting the photos. Your little furry family is wonderful.
I used to feed squirrels in a park. I had about 25 or so reasonably tame little beggars. I fed them peanuts. I learned that only roasted peanuts are healthy for them. Raw peanuts are not good. Of course, you REALLY have their attention with pecans. I would feed some pecans when I had them. My little gang never learned to open one but if I cracked it for them, they would really enjoy the goodies inside.

14. I hope they'll be out of the rain!
omg they are WAY TOO PRECIOUS!!! I hope they didn't need any milk anymore, if not then they should do fine. I mean I guess they'll learn to feed themselves, or is some wise old squirrel supposed to teach the babies how to live??

These pictures are so beautiful, thank you for posting them!!! It's funny how fast they decided to trust y'all, you must be exuuuding some Peace vibes :D

9. Peanut butter.
Maybe on a carrot stick or celery.

But there's not a breathing critter that grows fuzz on its butt that can resist peanut butter.

Trust me on this.

17. WANT!
I will trade you one baby possum for one baby squirrel. Take me 15 minutes to get a cage from my aunt and another hour to catch'im, at a guess. Then all we have to do is figure out how to make the trade-off. Deal?
