Seeing Trump dancing to "Trump....Trump in" with the chickens, in the polyester suit...THAT was funny.

I did laugh when Trump danced with the chickens but that was the highlight. You know the host can't act for beans when they only play themselves. I can't stand Trump to begin with but he really sucked on the show.

|
The Not Ready For Primetime Players
Dan Aykroyd John Belushi Chevy Chase Jane Curtin Laraine Newman Garret Morris Gilda Radner
who am I missing?
All other casts suck in comparison.

I know he isn't one of the originals but I always think of him with that group. He was great! How I miss those old shows.

But I blame Al Franken for the death of SNL. Al may be the bees knees in political commentary. He may be a great visionary in liberal media. But I am sad to say that he is the champion of the One Joke Sketch. SNL under his writing would beat a joke to death until the audience wept (not with laughter). Sorry, if its not funny the first time, repeating it will not make it funnier.
I would be happy to find out it was not Al's head writing that brought the one joke sketch to SNL. But that is my current understanding of it. Please, someone prove me wrong.

17. wasn't Al the writer on the first couple of seasons? |
|
Then got shifted to on-camera later on?
I'm sure he must have done plenty of funny stuff for SNL.
I'd say as a writer, he absolutely blows Tina Fey away.

Yeah, right.
You don't want to be accused of liking something unhip, do you?

11. Wouldn't mind liking unhip stuff at all |
|
Heck, if I can dig Shojo then I can handle unhip. SNL just isn't funny. Its painful. We actually forced ourselves to watch it when Jackie Chan was on and we felt compelled to write Jackie an apollogy and let him know that not everything in America was as stupid as SNL.

10. currently at it's all-time worst |
|
the writing is just toilet humore aimed at teens, as is the musical guests. snl used to go more for the 25-35 crowd and was capable of insightful political satire
and fallon and sans busting up laughing in every sketch they're in is getting really, really old
the show's had its peaks and valleys, but even its lowest moments (the randy quaid season, the disasterous 1994-95 season) were better than the hackjob currently gracing nbc's airwaves

12. Wil Ferrel and Cheri Oteri and Molly Shannon were great... |
|
They all left at around the same time and it kind of pulled the rug from under them.
They need to write what they know what is funny and stop trying to act like MadTV because they are afraid that the kids won't get it.
The fact is, if you dumb it down to sell to the kids and you're heart isn't in it it will fail anyway.
That's the problem, trying to sell it to the dumb teenage girls.

16. update would be better of w/o him |
|
tina's great, but jimy can hardly read a joke before breaking out in self-congratulatory snickering at his own lines
and his impressions suck. when he does an impression of adam sandler doing a bit, it's not clever, it's a rip-off
basically, fallon is just that annoying guy we all knew in high school who went around doing other people's routines and acting as if they were his own. if i wanted a GQ version of adam sandler, i would have asked for it
