Questions for families with more than one iPhone |
|
I'm probably going to upgrade from my two year old 3g phone to the the new iphone 5 sometime next year. I have ATT. If I keep it active and give the old phone to one of my teens, how much will ATT charge me per month total ? Do I get a price break for having a second active line? Or would it be cheaper to just get two new phones. Any thoughts or links appreciated.

1. All I know is that we have two. I don't text, my wife does. |

It's not a cell phone bill, it's more like a car payment.

We pay 129.76/month. Says on the AT&T site that the first two lines can run as low as $59.99, but then there are service charges and taxes, so it adds up. It also seems to vary by where you live. Here is the link: http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/cell-phone-plans/family-cell-phone-plans.jsp?WT.srch=1&_requestid=19445 It seems to say if you already have the family plan you can add another line for just $9.99. Here is a link to the AT&T forum: http://forums.att.com/t5/Apple-iPhone/iPhone-FamilyTalk-Plan-Pricing/td-p/1605429

You need a data plan for each iPhone.

5. I have two -- one for me & one for my daughter |
|
I've had mine since 2007, so it's still on the old "unlimited" (data & text) plan, and I had the 750 minutes per month phone plan (it's the lowest plan with rollover minutes). I added my daughter's about a year ago with the 2GB data plan, and left the phone plan at the 750 minutes (we share the minutes, and it has been plenty for both of us. She isn't big on talking on the phone -- she prefers to text). I also added the navigator / roadside assistance plans to both of our phones at the same time. When it was just my phone on the plan, I paid $109 per month. After adding her phone & the nav plans, it went up to $188.
