Today's College Football Thread
:woohoo:

I think the only game between ranked teams today is Alabama at Penn State (3:30 Eastern Time), but there are some other interesting games as well, such as Notre Dame at Michigan and South Carolina at Georgia.

So who does your team play today? What games are you looking forward to?

1. WVU kicks-off in about 20 minutes vs. Norfolk State.
Another warm-up game, though it'll get the Spartans some TV time here regionally.

2. ROLL TIDE!
There are some other important but overlooked games later today:

Major Mountain West action as the Air Force Falcons host the #25 TCU Horned Frogs. GO AIR FORCE!

And this evening, the mighty Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (Southland Conference Champs) host Northern Iowa. AXE 'EM JACKS!

12. The usual
They will be somewhat competitive, but schools like TCU will probably outmatch them.

3. BADGERS ! BADGERS !! BADGERS !!!
I hope they win every game this year, just to annoy NC State fans.

Besides, UNC won't have much of a team this year so it'll be the only enjoyment I get from college football.

6. I'm hoping for another Rose Bowl birth just because its so easy for me to get to Pasadena now.
Despite being annoyed by TCU fans, I had a great time at the game last year.

8. Toledo vs. Ohio State is a good game
Ohio State up 27-22 with about a minute left, but Toledo has the ball inside the OSU 25.

Ohio State hasn't lost to an in-state school since 1921 ...

9. I've been reading up on all of this superconference expansion talk.
I really don't like where all of this is going. As a Pac-12 fan, I don't want to expand into Texas and Oklahoma. It just kills all of the familiarity of playing your neighbors all of the time.

13. of all the conferences, I think the PAC 1x is best setup for expansion
Unlike the Big 10, which killed all kinds of tradition going to 11 and then to 12, and will kill even more if they wind up expanding to 14 or 16, the PAC 12 is now in a position where an expansion could restore and/or create more than it would destroy. The scenario I keep hearing is OU, OSU, Texas, and Texas Tech, which would make for an easy division into a Western Division with the 8 traditional Pac 8 schools (who are now split across the two divisions) and an Eastern Division with the two AZ schools, the two Oklahoma schools, the two Texas schools, plus Utah and Colorado. That would reunite Colorado with OU and OSU (conference mates from 1947 through last year) as well as the UT and Tech from the Big 12. (Incidentally, Tech also used to be partners with Arizona and Arizona State in the Border Conference decades ago.) To me that makes two divisions of teams that have a good history together and make sense geographically.

Ideally, I would have been happy if everything could have stayed like it was before the realignments last year, but with that cat out of the bag I'm sure there will be more shifts coming. As an Oklahoma fan, I'd love to be in the Pac 12 because it would mean at least one game in AZ (I've got family there) every year. :)

18. Five 12 team conferences would be my ideal.
Big 12 could add 3 more teams and be perfect. Too bad that A&M wants to get out so badly. Maybe someone can get through to Texas and let them know that they're sucking all of the oxygen out of the room and no one wants to partner with them.

sounds like something out of a 1950s comic.
