you know, strong and independent but reserved and modest, not shaking her ass and tits in my face

is it ok to say that here?

1. A friend once observed
that nowadays young women want to look sexy, not pretty. There's nothing wrong with looking sexy; there's a time and place for everything. But it used to be girls/women aspired to be pretty or beautiful. Now it's all about looking like you pole-dance for a living. It is a shame, really.

Good luck with your search!

8. The look back then was pretty and sexy.
I frequently find that a little modesty in dress sends my imagination into overdrive.

But, obviously that style is not for every woman.

It's not a good trend IMO. They're probably taking their cues from TV-land.

I'm just sick of men who think that all women should be perfect...well, their "idea" of perfect.

Edited on Sun Sep-11-11 11:05 AM by Skip Intro
honestly, I'm decrying the fact that many women evidently feel they need to show their asses and breasts to be noticed. It's a shame, and it's a sad product of our society. I'm not saying it's wrong or that women who run with the exhibitionist yearning, or willingly make it all about their bodies, probably at the insistence of some producer or director, are wrong.

I'm only saying that as a guy, I yearn for women who, on the whole, are a bit less revealing, a bit more modest. I don't see anything wrong with saying that. I don't find anything at all alluring about some woman in a music vid or a commercial or whatever putting her barely-clad ass in the camera. There's no substance there, imho. Sure she's free to do it, and I wouldn't change that if I could, but, while it may be (obviously) aimed at crass gentlemen, I don't find it alluring at all. And I think I can say that, even if it is deemed offensive by some...

7. Gotcha. Understand perfectly.
But sometimes, as a woman, it feels good to be noticed, ya know?

I wish I could send 1/2 to ya. :-)

I went to a Democratic picnic last summer and heard two young guys talking. I did not mean to eavesdrop, but they were not paying any attention to me, either. Why would they? They were in their mid-twenties, and I am sixty-three.

Both of them were wishing for, as one of them put it, "A nice girlfriend who did not go around with all her junk hanging out."

I was surprised.

Both guys were presentable young Democrats.

Maybe young men and women both need to pay better attention to this. And I don't think perfection had a thing to do with it. These guys seemed to be talking about relationships, not mere sex.

19. When you say you 'yearn,' does that mean ...
... that most women are immodest and show their bodies off? Like, it's hard to find someone (a young person, I presume) who doesn't dress that way?

9. I feel guilty when I start thinking about this.
My 19-year marriage blew up, and I'm thinking about eventually getting back out there. But all I ever do is think.

Sometimes I'll browse the photos on the dating sites, just because .... Hell, I don't even know why.

I think some of the women are really pretty. Others not so much.

And there are some that I could never feel a physical attraction for. And that makes me feel guilty.

Who am I to rule them out? They could be better women than I could ever hope to have myself associated with.

But if there is zero attraction ..... well I just can't help that.

And I guess I really can't blame a woman for feeling the same way about me. It's sad really.

I hope I'm able to find someone else someday. She doesn't have to be perfect. Far from it. Just pretty enought for me to find her attractive.
If I fall in love with her, she'll turn into the most beautiful woman in the world anyway.

16. That's the trouble with dating sites
A picture doesn't tell you much about the real person.

Someone who photographs well may not look so good in person and vice versa. Furthermore, you can't tell much about the personality and character, which is what's REALLY important. Oh yes, and chemistry of course, but I've had chemistry with people who would be utterly disastrous relationship partners...

23. The 1940s attitude
that accepted African-Americans riding on the back of the bus and going to segregated schools, had gay people almost universally in the closet, and did not accept interracial marriage in much of the South?

I'll take a modern day woman, thanks.

29. I get what you are saying - without taking it in a sexist way
After Liz Taylor passed away, the internet was full of pictures of her throughout her film career - and wow - she was beautiful and sensual and sexy without being slutty.

Maybe I am old, jealous that I never looked good enough to shake my ass and tits in anyone's face, whatever - but frankly I am so tired of seeing so much skin. When I see those infomercials for the pole dancing exercise routines or for sexy booties or whatever - I just cringe.

But by the same token - I agree with the previous poster about we should have men in nice suits and hats. Sigh... there was something so debonair about a man in a suit and hat.

I don't need the 1940's values - just the fashion

It seems that in the 40s every woman looked like the Black Dahlia, but in the 50s they all decided to look like Pat Nixon.
What was up with that?

It'd be nice to see guys bring back the 40s fashion, too. People can wear what they like, but I tend to prefer "classy" over "sexy," I guess. Color me weird.
