1. Yes, but with reservations to your client. |
|
*It was an NPO.
*It was sent in their standard printed-stationary envelope with organization's logo.
*I don't recall being terribly impressed to be sent an invitation to a $250/ticket fundraiser in a business class envelope on a piece of letter stock. I realize they were sending a few hundred of these and wasn't expecting anything fancy...but it would not have broke the budget to have opted for a 3x5 notecard (or invitation. I generally advise people towards the notecards because if they're blank inside, you can order them in bulk and use them for every other need like thank-you notes to major donor.) in a classy off-white shade, organization logo and a decent printing option (possibly embossed?) in the organization's color (navy and yellow. I'd have opted for the navy.)

4. Tell them that they want to go marginally upscale. |
|
Not anything super fancy...but high enough quality as to make it obvious that they didn't DIY in the campaign office with paper from Staples. Assuming they're sending 200 invites, I'd not go over $0.50 a piece plus bulk-rate postage, less if possible but no less than say $0.30 a piece. (You and I both know that the per-piece cost drops precipitously the more you're printing...most of the cost is the setup of the printer and the design.)

3. Any way you can talk your candidate to a slightly upscale approach? |
|
Those kinds of things are tricky. Spend too much, look too fancy and you turn people off. Go too low key and you turn people off. I would recommend a standard invite size with a colorful envelope for a fun approach. (Mix and match interior colors to envelope color.) Or plain envelope for a more formal look. Color laser print at Kinkos or somewhere. Inexpensive, full color, fun.

6. Yes, and it won an award. |
|
I'm pretty good, though.
Hint: it was folded.
