I was watching that game (of course but we don;t want to talk about it any further than that) and when they first called his name I asked my wife how he had time to play football AND direct True Blood. lol. Well it made me laugh anyway.

Dead Tara! Dead Debbie! Dead Nan! That's a goddamn trifecta of annoying gone!! (Too bad about Jesus!)
Arlene is going crazy! (I loved the Rene cameo. I really loved her thinking she could sing him away with church-school songs.) Sookie finally does something smart! Lafayette will be back to being...well...season-one Lafayette...probably. He seems all sorts of messed up. He just got a whole lot more to be messed up over.
Lots and lots of interesting cameos from past seasons teasing us about things to come. Lots of foreshadowing.
So...we've had a serial killer, pseudo-Christian cultists, one bad bad-ass vampire, weres, maenads, witches, what's up next in the bad guy pool?

7. Well, if they're realistic... (spoiler-discussion and kind of gross) |
|
which I realize is a stretch for this show based only on content...much of her brain is on the floor and a gunshot wound to that part of the head. Yes. Death would have been instant. It hit her behind the ear and we saw chunks of her head fly out. All the systems that control life-supporting systems (breathing, heart rate, etc.) would be gone. So...unless next season is season of the living dead a' la Romero starring Tara, she was D-E-A-D before she ever hit the floor.
I knew the second earlier in the episode they were discussing growing old and playing with grandbabies on the porch that she wasn't going to survive the season. I didn't know it was the season finale though...I just knew she was f**ked.

|
The character is annoying and pointless. She's like a wet blanket...I swear if Tara ever had nothing to whine or cry about, she'd implode. She's a punching bag...it's like the writers need filler. "Yeah so we're at 46 minutes and we need 53. I know...let's have something really fucked up and terrible happen to Tara so she'll break-down, sob and whine; then we'll barely ever reference it again after the credits roll on this episode."
Two entirely different head wounds by the way.

Was it Pam? Was it Debbie? Not many more would have known where he was. He is going to be PISSED!!! Oh yeah, they have to work ont he Jessica/Jason sex scenes. The boob hiding thing is getting annoying. Either wear lingerie or show your skin. But having a hand locked to your chest just looks so fake. Anyway, GREAT closing episode. Now to wait until next June. UGGHH!

Would Debbie have known where he was buried? I don't think Alcide would have told her but I know Eric would have. He trusted Pam with everything and she knows Russell would love nothing more than to have some of that Vamp Crack faery blood that Sookie has.

I agree they'll have to explain the mechanics a bit, but Nan was certainly a committed bureaucrat. She would likely have had a huge network of informants and investigators available to her.
Perhaps she glammed the information from the ditsy, over-glamoured Fangtasia waitress (can't remember the character-name). Pam & Eric both treat her as furniture and might have discussed plans in front of her without seeing it as a security leak.
I agree that Bill is an unlikely source of the information. He never trusted Ms. Flanagan & was playing her throughout their cooperation.
I would excuse some Deus Ex Machina to advance the plot-line.
I guess Debbie Pelt might have had access to information on Alcide's involvement, but her attempt to shotgun Sookie doesn't play with a convoluted plot to attack her with a Russel-proxy. Debbie wasn't smart enough to include a back-up plan.
Pam's definitely upset with Sookie's vagina, but I really can't see her betraying Eric. I think that's a disinformation plot-line that will evolve in a different direction. Pam has impulse-control issues and I'd believe a direct attack on Sookie is more believable than a convoluted plot freeing an insane uber-powerful vamp as likely to stake her as thank her.
I can't tie in Reverend Newlin, that would be way too contrived to be a workable plot-point.
I can't think of any other likely candidates, but I'm not as clever as TB's writers.
It looks like Season 5 might be the best yet.

How is killing Nan beneficial to any possible storyline? She was one of the best characters on the show. It was nice to see Rene, however. I wish he would have stuck around longer.

16. Ok who dug up Russell - this is the scuttle on some of the TB boards |
|
Remember this has to be a person that: #1 - Knows where Russell is buried #2 - Knows they are messing around with a 3000 year old vampire that is almost impossible to kill
So far these are the people being considered:
#1 Pam: Pam is the safe bet. Pam is extremely loyal to Eric even if Eric doesn't want to see her. Pam knows 2 things - that Russell would drain Sookie dry if given the chance and it would be very difficult for Eric to kill Russell. Sure Eric managed to capture Russell one time but Eric was nutz to not have killed him. And remember she is the one person that knows where Russell is buried since she was the one that dug Eric out of the neighboring concrete block. Mind you the one person who knows that everyone who watches True Blood has seen.
#2 Debbie: Debbie has been made an obvious candidate since she had a connection to Russell (she was in the pack of V-addicted weres) and she also can't stand Sookie. There is a good chance that she knew where Russell was buried since she and Alcide seemed to have a period of honesty between them but we do not know if that included Alcide telling Debbie where they buried Russell. As for digging Russell out of concrete, if Debbie had downed a bunch of V-blood she may have been able to unbury him. The one thing that points to 'no it wasn't Debbie' - you'd think when Debbie went to Sookie's house to kill her that Russell would have gone with her. Technically Russell can enter her house (the house is owned by Eric and Vampires can enter any Vamp owned building without permission). But...Vamps also seem to assume they need permission, remember early in season #4 Bill never once tried to enter Sookie's house until Eric told him he was the owner.
#3 Nan: Nan's name has been popping up into contention. It seemed odd at the very end Nan turned against the AVL and the Authority and ranted about both in a manner similiar to what Russell did last year on TV. The only question would be - how did Nan know where Russell was buried unless Bill told her after Nan made him King. One thing that would make you believe Nan knows - at no point has Bill ever come out and said "Oh Sookie is a Faery". In fact when Nan made him King she asked about Queen Sophie-Anne's obsession about Sookie and Bill played it off as it was nothing. Who knows if Nan had ever seen a Faery up close but Russell could have confirmed that Sookie was indeed part Faery.
#4 Steve Newlin: There are a few people out there that think either Steve Newlin dug him up or that Steve Newlin may have been turned by either Nan or Russell.
Man I can't wait until season #5

19. True - Technically Russell does not know that Sookie doesn't own her home |
|
I think out of habit Vampires assume they can't walk into any human's home. If you remember the beginning of the season Bill stopped at Sookie's front door and assumed he couldn't enter - he did that until he found out Eric bought Sookie's house.

While you're waiting for thhe next season, there's the BBC's Being Human. A ghost, a vampire and a werewolf share a house while trying to be normal. Much better than I thought it would be. And the ghost, Lenora Crichlow, is so lovely, I can't wait to die so I can meet her in person. ;)

26. I suspected Steve being turned -- |
|
when we kept hearing news reports of his disappearance. I love his character and can't wait to see where they go with him. :)
Tara -- as mentioned in threads here, I suspect she will be turned to save her life. If she does die, I will not miss her much -- I have always had problems with the performance of the actress portraying her.
Russell -- everything goes better with a little Russell Edgington! Delicious!
I am sorry to see Jesus depart like that -- I really liked the character and actor playing him. I hope we get to see him pop up every once in awhile. After all, he is dead and Lafayette is a medium (that was funny).
Great reappearance by Rene -- I hope we see more.
I am officially over the triangle between Sookie/Bill/Eric. I know that it is intentionally being done is a fairly cheesy way, but it is bordering on genuine cheese as opposed to camp cheese.
And the actress playing Jessica just needs to flash her tits or stop her nude scenes. It is getting annoying watching her attempts to cover up.

Tara will be back - I can't seeing her being offed but it does make a good cliff hanger. Lafayette was either going to lose his cousin or his boyfriend but I can't see him losing both.
I think they wanted to clear off the Sookie/Bill/Eric triangle to free Sookie up for Alcide. I don't think Quinn will be shown in season #5. Season #4 will be the last season that follows the books.
Of all the cliffhangers the one that shocked me the most was Steve Newlin. I suspect we're going to see a Steve Newlin/the ex-Mrs Newlin/Hoyt/Jessica/Jason pentangle storyline in 2012. I think Mrs Newlin and Hoyt would make a great couple. Hoyt deserves a hottie girlfriend and Mrs Newlin would really tie into a delicious storyline. The wild care in all of this will be Crystal Norris. We really didn't have closure to the Hot Shots inbreeds and the gangrape - I suspect at least of them of them caught seed during that scene.

28. Yes, there was always a "Newlin is gay" - |
|
undercurrent with his character that I think will play out with Jason -- he gave Jason one serious up-and-down at the door. Now, who turned him?, that is an interesting question. Was he kidnapped and turned by vamp activists? I could see that happening.
As for Tara, she could be healed by vamp blood -- and hate the sexytime dreams she would get, turned -- which she would hate even more and give her a great story line to work with, or perhaps LaLa could use some of his new found magic to intercede.
Mrs. Newland and Hoyt -- that could actually work!
The Pam and Eric conflict intrigues me -- I loved her rant about Sookie's fairy vagina. :D Does a maker and their prodgeny ever truly split? I wonder.
